“They came for the beer. They stayed for the brains.”
For the past couple of months we have been helping a producer friend, David Huff, put together a pitch package for a feature film that we plan on shooting late next year entitled “Dead Brew”. It’s comedy/horror/zombie movie in the style of Zombieland.
After spending the past year producing a serious, thought-provoking drama it has been a nice retreat delving into the world of brains, blood and beer creating the world of Dead Brew.
Typically, I would shy away from films that pull heavy inspiration from a particular, local area but this project has a sense of humor and style that will help it become accessible to audiences outside the local area and at the same time provide a canvas for the locals to laugh at themselves, all the while telling a hilarious story of government corruption, tourists being devoured and celebratory beer consumption that entertains a wide audience. This project really will be a fun ride to make but an even more entertaining rollercoaster for the audience once we get the movie made.
A special thanks goes out to all the crew including Greg Hudgins, Aaron Putnam, Bryan Kish and the cast of zombies and soon-to-be zombies who helped put this project together.
