Just wrapped filming of the feature film “For the Glory” in Northern Virginia and DC. Had a fantastic time with some great people that I hope to see again soon.
ABOUT THE FILM: Kurt Kuykendall’s only escape from an alcoholic home is his childhood dream to play basketball for the U.S. Olympic team. When he is cut from his college team, Kurt takes a chance on soccer and finds his true calling. A modern retelling of the amazing true story.
This marks my second sports film in the past year so hopefully my next project will be something a bit different. Maybe a good suspense triller or historic drama? We’ll see…
Just finished Directing, DPing and editing the music video “Carolina Moonshine” which is featured on the soundtrack to Red Dirt Rising. It’s a great song that illustrates the history behind racing a moonshine running in the early days. I have to say that I’ve developed a great respect for the men of early stock-car racing. They truly were just “good old boys”.
Here is a music video that I served as DP and Director entitled “Carrie James”. Jeff Tillman wrote and performed the piece and Cliff Downs Produced the song.
Just wrapped principle photography on the film “Hero” in Winston Salem, NC serving as the director of photography.
The shoot went surprisingly well considering the weather and the fact that the film was 80% exterior and on baseball fields. Somehow, the weather held off when we needed it to and we only had a few days that we went over 12 hours. All in all it was a great shoot and we had some fantastic crew members to thank for the speed and quality that we were able to accomplish on a daily basis.
ABOUT THE FILM: ”Hero” is the story of one man’s determination to give the young boys in his town hope and confidence. He seeks to accomplish this by forming a baseball team deliberately designed to involve both fathers and sons in a common effort. Unbeknownst to him, his actions will also bless and bring a new meaning in life to the father of one of the boys, a man serving a life sentence in the local penitentiary.
Check out the new Cast Interview video from Red Dirt Rising. Post production should be complete by the first of September. Keep checking back for more updates.
I just spend 2 warm weeks in North Florida working on the edit of Red Dirt Rising prepping for some additional shooting and pickup’s in mid May. Unless we encounter any further delays, we are on target to complete the film by mid summer. There’s still alot of work to be done but after completing the rough cut of the film, I’m even more jazzed to finish the film and get it out there for public consumption. I think whether you are a stockcar fan or just a fan of indie films, there is something in our movie that you will enjoy. It’s been a real test of patients and passions to see this film completed but we are close to the finish line.
Don’t forget to join our Facebook Group to stay up to date on what’s happening with the project.
Spent the past 2 weeks traveling between Hartford, CT and Boston, MA shooting a new DVD for Time, Inc division QSP. We were able to shoot at the Boston Garden 2 days and even caught a Celtics game in our off time. It was a great group of guy’s and they are as humble as can be. I’m headed up to Ohio in a week or so to help Greg Kraus (Producer and Director of the video) wrap up color correction.
One of my latest Editorial Projects was this Documentary / Promotional piece for the POP Asheville Music Festival that is to be showcased at SXSW Music and Film festival in Austin, Texas. This project was produced by Studio South for The Creative Commerce Commission of Advantage West.
Worked a few days as the editor on a music video for The Arlenes. Follows the story of a lost and of course, lonely girl wandering the streets. Produced by Craig Hines. Directed by Paul Schattel.
